Developed by the university faculty, the software can automatically convert content typed in any font into Unicode or Ravi. To help them out of this predicament, a professor of Punjabi University has now written a letter to the state government to help the candidates by adopting a new software. Many of the applicants had learnt typing in Joy, Asees, Sutlej, Anmol lipi, and other fonts. Concerned officials hinted that it could be conducted in October. The date for the test is yet to be announced. These posts were advertised in September 2016, however, after the imposition of code the test could not be taken. There are over 1,882 posts of clerks and clerks-cum-data entry operators for which over 50,000 candidates will appear to give the typing test in Punjabi. As they have learnt typing in other Punjabi fonts, these applicants are now finding themselves at a disadvantage. PATIALA: The decision of the state government to conduct Punjabi typing tests only in Raavi font for the post of clerks and clerk-cum-data entry operators in all departments, has sent thousands of applicants in a tizzy.
